When Mako was 18 years old, she became pregnant with a child with her then boyfriend. However, her boyfriend lost contact with her and disappeared. Mako decided to become a single mother and gave birth to Kyota. Kyota was interested in art, and after graduating from high school, he became an apprentice to a potter, and began to live in and train with him. Then, when Kyota turned 20, his master told him to return the favor to his mother, so Kyota took a vacation and returned home, inviting Mako on a trip to a hot spring.
